AED Management Program
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are regulated by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and are classified as a Class III medical device. Almost all AEDs require the purchaser to obtain a prescription from a physician under FDA rules. Most AED manufacturers in the US provide the initial prescription when a new device is purchased although the initial prescription does not satisfy the widely varying state laws regarding AED ownership and compliance. Ongoing maintenance checks, battery and pad expiration date management and CPR/AED two year certification training are all highly regulated for each state in the US.
For most organizations, managing compliance is an overwhelming task. Our AED Management Program is our solution to provide for the ongoing maintenance and management of your AEDs. If you purchase a new AED from us, or buy replacement Batteries or Pads for an existing AED (even if you didn’t purchase the AED from us), you’re still eligible for our AED Management Program. Never get caught with expired batteries or pads. Our AED Management Program will always track and monitor any expiring product and we will notify you in advance of expiration making ordering replacements simple.
We do the heavy lifting so you can make sure your AEDs are functioning properly and your entire AED program is compliant, so your state’s Good Samaritan laws provide the protection that they were intended to.
Good Samaritan laws offer legal protection to anyone who gives reasonable assistance to those who are, or who they believe to be, injured, ill, in peril, or otherwise incapacitated. Each state provides different laws and requirements for AED management or ownership such as:
Local EMS AED Registration
Physician Program Oversight & AED Prescription
CPR/AED Training Requirements
AED Maintenance
